Tom runs another blinder at Ffos Las

 In Latest News

Tom (aka Templier) returned to Ffos Las on 1 February for the first time since his win there in March 2023. Once again, the ground was heavy which he loves and he ran another superb race to finish second in the colours of Yen Hall Farm Racing. James Best, who had won on him in November, was booked to ride him but had a fall in an earlier race on the card, breaking his nose and stood down for the rest of the day. Fortunately, Nick Scholfield, who knows him well and won on him twice last Spring, was at the course and was able to take the ride. Given the conditions, it was agreed that Nick would sit off the pace and make his move turningĀ  into the straight for the final time. The plan worked well and Tom moved up from 7th to 2nd approaching the last but never quite made up ground to overhaul the well-handicapped winner. It was a long day for Tom (and for us!), leaving the yard at 5.30 am and not returning until 10.45 pm. Not surprisingly, Tom was very tired and spent much of Friday morning, lying down and sleeping!

It was another impressive effort by Tom who, at the age of 11, is running off a career-high handicap mark. He clearly loves his racing and he has now had 3 wins and 2 second placed finishes from his last six runs!
