Mars Harper Placed in Classy Veterans’ Chase

Mars Harper, who hadn’t run for six months, ran very well in the veterans’ chase at Market Rasen on 25 October. The five runners had won 41 races and over £1.1 million in prize money coming into the race and so he was in pretty distinguished company. We knew that the trip would be too short for him but he kept with the pace, jumping and travelling really well until making a mistake at the first fence in the home straight which set him back a little. Nevertheless, he battled on to overtake another rival to earn his place in the winners’ enclosure. As his jockey, Tabitha Worsley said, he will be great fun and will certainly win races this season.
