Templier Win in Dramatic £100,000 Scoop in ITV 7!

What connects Marine Nationale, Forcing Bull, El Fabiolo, Templier, Coach Rambler, Constitution Hill and Honeysuckle? Those selections won a shrewd punter £100,000 in the ITV 7 jackpot yesterday, 14 March.

Six of the seven featured races in yesterday’s ITV 7 were from the Cheltenham Festival but the other was the 2.30 2 mile handicap chase from Sedgefield, which was won by Templier (aka Tom) at a starting price of 14/1, although he had been at longer odds during the day. This was the second win for Yen Hall Farm Racing Club in less than 10 days, as Le Tueur (aka Terry) had won on 5 March at Huntingdon.

Tom was given an excellent ride by Nick Scholfield who knows the horse well and knew that he would relish the soft ground – the first time he has had his ground this year as the first two months of the year were so dry. He rode Tom patiently and gave him plenty of time to build his confidence and get into a rhythm. Tom loves passing other horses and relished doing so in the latter stages of the race, slipping up the inside on the home bend to take third. The leading horse was then tiring and Tom had no difficulty in passing him and then overhauling the new leader between the last two fences. A fine jump at the last sealed the race and Tom won by 11 lengths, being eased towards the line.
