Nickle Proves His Mettle
Nickle Back won his debut steeplechase by 24 lengths in the 2 mile 4 furlong limited novices’ chase at Warwick on 5 October! It was an impressive performance and he was described by the Racing Post as having “demolished” the field. He is a quirky horse and has taken time to mature but this was a much more professional and settled display. He has an impressively high cruising speed and James Best rode him brilliantly and soon took him to the front of the field and had him jumping in a lovely rhythm. This was an exciting performance from a horse who is still a lightly raced 7 year old and it will be fun planning a campaign for him.
The day was rounded off for the Humphrey family by our youngest son, William, winning at Laurel Park in Maryland, taking his winning tally to 88 wins (and prize money of nearly $3.5 million) since April 2022! Keep the winners rolling on both sides of the Atlantic!
