Mars is a Star!

Mars Harper and our conditional jockey, Jamie Gambin, almost pulled off an amazing win at Fakenham today in the David Keith Memorial Veterans 3 mile steeplechase. Sent off at 28/1, the long outsider of the competitive field, Jamie settled Mars sensibly at the back and gave him time to get into a good rhythm. As the race developed, so did the confidence of the duo and they became more competitive, jumping fluently and travelling well. Turning for home around the final bend, they didn’t get the chance to slip through on the inside and had to take a slight check which may have made the difference. Nevertheless, with another good jump at the last, the pair kept on well and were beaten just over two lengths. As this was the first run for Mars after a wind operation, this was a very encouraging outing. Well done, Mars, Jamie and all the team!
