Sean Crowned Again

 In Latest News

Sean, aka Irish Sovereign, won a second crown at Sedgefield on 24 March to follow on from his win at Southwell on 30 November. He is another horse who doesn’t enjoy soft winter ground and, although the watered ground was throwing up plenty of divots and was on the softer side of good, he won in fine style. Tom Scudamore, who rode him, said afterwards that he was sure that he would win by the time they jumped the second hurdle. He deliberately kept Sean wide and on the slightly better ground and it was great to see Sean’s lovely long stride, good cruising speed and superb jumping quickly taking him effortlessly to the head of affairs. He gradually increased his lead and was a good three lengths clear turning into the home straight and, having cleared the final hurdle was eased down, still winning by 4 1/2 lengths.

The photo, which is supplied courtesy of John Grossick of Grossick Photography, shows Sean’s enthusiasm in jumping hurdles brilliantly.
