Nearly Glory for Another Mystery!

 In Latest News

Another Mystery (aka Scooby) ran a superb race at Uttoxeter on 18 May, just headed in the last few strides to finish a very good second in the 2 mile 5 furlong handicap steeplechase, finishing more than 8 lengths ahead of the third horse. We have worked hard to improve his jumping technique over fences and to build his confidence and, under an excellent positivie ride from James Best, Scooby rewarded that effort with a superb round of jumping, clearly enjoying himself at the head of affairs. He was unlucky to be overhauled on the run-in by a horse carrying 10 pounds less weight. Well done, Scooby and well done team!

On the same card, Gloire d’Athon, also ran an excellent race. We had stepped him up to 3 miles from his usual 21/2 miles and he travelled and jumped brilliantly, certainly the best performance from him for some time, after his exciting run of impressive results in 2022/23. The key was the ground. Extraordinarily, every time that he has run since May 2023 there has been heavy rain just before his race and the ground has always been softer than he would like. This time the ground was good to soft/good in places and he loved it! He looked and performed much more like his old self which was very good to see and encouraging.
