Sam and Jamie Win at Huntingdon

Sam (aka The Wise Traveller), ridden by our conditional jockey, Jamie Gambin, won the 3 mile 1 furlong handicap hurdle at Huntingdon on 11 April. This was the third time that Sam has passed the post first since joining the yard and the second time when ridden by Jamie. Jamie rode a very good race, jumping off straight into the lead, slowing the pace slightly when he wasn’t being challenged on the first circuit but then increasing the tempo to make it a proper test of stamina as he went out onto the final lap. As the post-race comments said, he deserved plenty of credit and rode an intelligent race and, having beaten off all challengers won by 3 lengths, with the favourite beaten by 15 lengths. Sam clearly enjoyed the race and is keen to go again – Well done, Jamie and Sam!
