Flamelco’s Seasonal Debut

 In Latest News

Flamelco (aka Flame) finished second at Sedgefield on 8 October on his seasonal debut after his three wins last season, most recently when winning at Plumpton in April. We had declared on ground that was described as “good/good to soft in places” but, following the first race on the card, that was changed to “good to firm/good in places”. That was not ideal for Flame, particularly when running against Summer ground horses. Ridden once again by Tom Cannon, Flame ran very well and, as Tom said, once we have ground with some cut in it, he will be back to his winning ways.

Flame runs in the colours of our racing club, Yen Hall Farm Racing. YHFR has had five runs since its season started on 1 September and, has won prize money on each occasion, with two wins, two seconds and a fourth!

Four Towns ran another excellent race for YHFR to finish second at Stratford on 6 October following his win at Fontwell on 22 September – it was unfortunate that the low sun meant that several hurdles were omitted as his jumping gave him an advantage over his rivals.

Sam (aka The Wise Traveller) ran another very good race for YHFR to be placed at Huntingdon on 7 October following his win at Plumpton on 21 September. Sam was up 6 lbs in the handicap since his last win at Huntingdon in April and, not being allowed the soft lead that he had enjoyed on that occasion, Sam found it difficult this time to break away from the field on the final circuit from what was already a quick pace.
