Flame adds sparkle to Aintree for YHFR

 In Latest News

Flamelco (aka Flame) gave our racing club, Yen Hall Farm Racing, a special day out at Aintree on Grand Sefton day on 8 November. We were very pleased with his run in the 2 mile handicap steeplechase which was run over the Mildmay course. Flame put up a great show and well outran his odds. As Tom Cannon said, his jumping was superb over the very large Aintree Mildmay fences and he couldn’t fault his attitude. He did everything right but he is at the top of his handicap and was up against a very strong and competitive field. He stayed on well but didn’t quite have the turn of foot of some of his rivals. We may try him over a slightly longer trip next time. He certainly has more wins in him.

Aintree Racecourse looked after us very well and we were given a table by the window overlooking the racecourse which we were able to use as a base for the day and we were only five yards from the terrace with its magnificent views over the whole track. The food was excellent and we were well looked after by our own dedicated waitress, Lily. We all had a great time and it was certainly a day to remember!

The lovely photograph of Flame soaring over one of the fences in the home straight is courtesy of Grossick Photography.
