Cilla placed on debut hurdle race

Jonquilla (aka Cilla) ran brilliantly at Catterick to finish 2nd, at 50/1!, in her debut over hurdles. Ridden by Jack Tudor, she travelled beautifully and jumped impressively, leading the field throughout the race and she was only just caught by the odds-on favourite in the final few strides, beaten just 1 1/2 lengths.

This was particularly pleasing as her owners, Gordon and Maria Clements have been so patient while she has been recovering from a bone chip operation. That has resulted in a very delayed start to her jumping career but patience has been rewarded. Cilla is nicely bred and she showed that she has some class. We look forward to an exciting future for her.
