Scooby Scores at Fakenham

 In Latest News

Another Mystery (aka Scooby) scored his first win over steeplechase fences at Fakenham on 6 April. Although he had won over hurdles, he proved to be disappointing when steeplechasing under Rules and so he was eventually diverted to go pointing to give members of our staff an opportunity to learn about racing. That may have freshened him up and increased his confidence and he travelled and jumped extremely well at Fakenham. The rumour is that Scooby prefers to be ridden by female jockeys and he certainly responded well to Tabitha Worsley, who rode him at Fakenham and got a great tune out of him. Despite being last in the betting in the small field, he looked every bit the winner from half-way through the final circuit, taking up the lead before 2 out. His fast pace seemed to knock the stuffing out the opposition, with the result that they all pulled up, leaving Scooby as the sole finisher. To add to the celebrations, his win meant that Tabitha can no longer claim and is now a fully professional jockey. Well done Scooby and well done Tabitha!
