FLAMING BRILLIANT!
Flamelco (aka Flame) won the 2 mile handicap steeplechase in the colours of Yen Hall Farm Racing at Huntingdon on 23 January. This was his second win in just three starts. On the previous occasion at Catterick in December, he was ridden by James Bowen and, this time, he was partnered by his brother Sean, currently leading the race to be champion jockey. As at Catterick, Flame got into a beautiful rhythm and jumped superbly. Sean hardly moved on him until coming to the second last fence and then just rode him out, hands and heels, to win very comfortably by 7 lengths, despite having been put up 7 pounds in the handicap for his Catterick win. By Racing Post Ratings, this was a career best performance for the 7 year old and, having not won in Britain before joining us before his run in September, his results in his last 4 runs are 2, 1, 3, 1. Let’s hope that he continues to enjoy life and to give more success to Yen Hall Farm Racing!
