Sam and Jet Sparkle at Fakenham

Sam (aka The Wise Traveller) won the 3 mile handicap hurdle at Fakenham on Friday, 12 April in the colours of our racing club, Yen Hall Farm Racing. That was Sam’s second win in just three starts for the club and takes the club to the top of the owners’ leaderboard for wins at Fakenham in 2023-24. What made it even more special was that Sam was ridden by our conditional, Jamie Gambin, and it was Jamie’s debut ride for the yard. Jamie rode well and won in style, not looking at all like a claimer. Sam was last in the betting and so this was a particularly sweet success. Well done, Jamie and Sam!

On the same card, Jet (aka Jack’s Touch) was cruelly headed on the run-in to deprive her of another win. Ridden by James Best, Jet travelled and jumped brilliantly but found giving a stone in weight to the eventual winner just a touch tough. It was another great run and she is bound to score again soon.
