Glory, Glory Hat-trick!
Gloire d’Athon (aka Glory) won at Sandown on 2nd December to score his hat-trick over chase fences. Following his successes over fences at Huntingdon and Worcester, he ran in the 2 mile 4 furlong novices limited chase, jumping brilliantly and leading from start to finish. This was a significant step-up for Glory, not only to be running at a grade 1 track against horses trained by the biggest yards but also tackling the very imposing Sandown fences, including the famous “railway fences” and “pond fence” on the stiff climb to the finish. Tom Scudamore was in the saddle (as Aidan Coleman who had partnered Glory to his previous chase wins was called to Exeter) and got Glory into a beautiful rhythm. It was a very exciting day for Jennie Pitman and for all of us and we are all looking forward to planning the next steps for this wonderful horse!
The day was made even more memorable for the Humphrey family as William had three wins and one third placed finish from just four rides in the US! Days like this are to be savoured!
