Glimpse of Gold won impressively at 18/1 at Lingfield on 9 November, beating the odds-on favourite by over 10 lengths. The race was the “Flat Jockeys Can Jump” 2 mile hurdle and all the horses had to be ridden by full-time professional flat jockeys. Joey Haynes rode Gold brilliantly and the pair quickly established a strong bond of trust. Gold knew exactly what was required and jumped superbly throughout and, rather to our surprise, coped with the ground, which was softer than he normally likes, better than expected. He went into the lead at the 5th obstacle and took the inside line around the final bend into the home straight and kept on finding more, winning by three lengths easing down. Gold clearly loves his racing and has all the enthusiasm of a 5 or 6 year old, despite now being 10, rising 11. He is a star performer for the Yen Hall Farm Racing club.
