Nickle turns to Gold
Nickle Back won very impressively in a novice hurdle at Fontwell on 2 October. He looked very exciting when he came very close to winning in a maiden hurdle at Southwell in March, finishing only just over a length behind the progress Cadzand but this was a significant step forward. Nickle took the race by the scruff of the neck and went clear from the third hurdle, continuing to go further into a commanding lead, finally winning by 30 lengths, well held and pulling like a train as he passed the judge. As the Racing Post said, he was “unchallenged, impressive”. He was given an RPR of 143 for the race and seems to be a very exciting prospect. The immediate plan will be to go for the Ballymore novice hurdle race at Cheltenham on 22 October, provided that the ground is on the soft side of good. Fingers crossed for some more rain and for another good result! image courtesy of Darren Cool Photography.
